Hey Friends!

As promised before - I have written a new tutorial - this time on how to add a full screen header to your SmugMug site. The header allow you to add text in the centre and an icon/link that will encourage your visitors to scroll down to see the rest of your content.

Tutorial: https://portal.photom.me/portal/how-to-add-a-full-screen-header-to-your-smugmug-site/

You can test the layout here: photom.me/Customizations/Hero-Full-Screen-Header/n-CmqBW3

Enjoy!

Tom thanks so much for putting the tutorial together. I'm one of the people who asked for it but I've been jammed up for a couple weeks and will be at least through the end of next week. I'm going to put this to use as soon as I get a chance to catch my breath. Don't want you to think I'm not very appreciate of your time, I'm just super busy right now!

One Q - what theme/template are you using and will that have any effect on how this looks? I absolutely hate how the sidebar looks (truncated) on the Arrow theme I am using and have been thinking about changing to a theme with top bar navigation (I think it's a must for the full screen header to look right), but am wondering if I would lose all of my current customization if I change the underlying theme? (Yes that's the sound of me cringing at the thought of having to start all over from scratch.)

    Hey Lori,

I am glad that this tutorial would help you with your design. I do not recommend using this layout on a layout that has a sidebar - It would not make sense or it would look really busy.

But you can adopt the ARROW theme to work perfectly with my layout - just turn off the sidebar in the layout settings and that is it. You will then have full width to work on.

Before you turn the sidebar off - make sure that you move the navigation content block to the center of the page - so you do not need to re-make it.

Btw. I have applied the design to my homepage as well: http://www.photom.me
