Temporarily removing gallery from event. Effect on Favorites?

I would like to temporarily remove a gallery from a client's event page.

If I do so, will the favorites they have previously chosen in that gallery remain, such that if/when the gallery is added back to the event, it's business as usual and they do not need to re-favorite all of them.

I've tested this myself, and the favorites do remain. In fact they still show up under "View My Favorites" even though the gallery was removed from the event. That wasn't the behavior I was looking for.

So I set the relevant gallery to "Private (me only)" and yet the favorites remained as thumbnails (although the original isn't viewable if clicked on). That's not good! Whatever bit of code that generates the favorites thumbs is not checking the gallery access list.

So currently it would seem that, short of deleting the gallery, there is no way of removing a gallery from an event that also removes the clients favorites en masse.

Or am I missing something?

The Event Favorites may take a few minutes to update throughout our servers after making the gallery Private. If you wait 5 minutes and refresh, the Event Favorites should disappear. If you make the gallery visible again, the Event Favorites should return.
