Firefox and Smugglr keep looping

SuzPhotosSuzPhotos Registered Users Posts: 67 Big grins

I have Firefox installed and clicked on "start Smuggling". A message comes up "Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer", then I ticked the box "allow". It then asked me to restart Firefox, which I did. I went back into Firefox and opened up Smuggler.com to start the process. The "Start Smuggling" appeared, to which I clicked, but it sent me right back to the message that said "Firefox prevented..." I can't seem to get past this loop. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Suz,

Sorry to hear about the trouble with Smugglr. Could you please check to see if you are running any antivirus programs or browser extensions on firefox? Disabling those may be able to help get you out of the loop. You may also want to try a different browser like Google Chrome.

You should also take a look at this Smugglr tutorial that my colleague Tom set up.

Those are the instructions I followed to migrate. My default browser is not Firefox so I downloaded it to use for this operation only. I have a MacBook Pro, so no add-on virus protection and no other browser extensions.

You also suggested using a different browser like Google Chrome, but all the instructions say to use Firefox. So I'm confused why this is happening.

Sorry for the continued trouble. Firefox may be blocking the installing of apps. Within firefox, in preferences > security you can add exceptions so you can install smugglr. Be sure that www.smugglr.net is added as an exception and it should work.

I followed your instructions and added smugglr as an exception and it is still looping. I'm about ready to give up. I really, REALLY want to use SmugMug as my photo hosting site instead of Zenfolio, but this is just not working. Besides which the website is not SMUGGLR.NET, it is SMUGGLR.COM. So that instruction is incorrect.

    Anyone else with suggestions?

After you restart Firefox, there is no need to go to smugglr.com as you already downloaded the app. Just click Tools > SmuggLr and follow the instructions.

I am attaching a couple of screen shots of Firefox. If there is a different place I am supposed to be looking for "tools", I do not know where it is. I looked under preferences, and I opened extensions. Smugglr is there and enabled.

I suspect it will show in the Tools menu item. If you don't have the (text) menu item showing, click Customize on the screen you show above. Then click Show / Hide Toolbars to show the dropdown. Click Menu Bar to turn it on.

Once you do this you should see a menu bar with a Tools entry at the top of your Firefox window.

FINALLY! My galleries are now transferring over. Thank you. ONE MORE QUESTION. I see there are a few photos that have 'failed'. How do I handle this? After the transfer how do I know which ones failed. And will I know why?
