WXWAX - Two things, was this put in a fixed area?

Also, adding photo's which gives a visual example of the definition, when applicable, would be a bonus.

Thanks, Bod. It hasn't been placed anywhere for final use, because it's waiting on images to help illustrate it.

I think the hold-up is that there are more than 70 definitions!

Thanks for the work! It's a big help just knowing what people are typing about. thumb.gif

Before I thought Vignetting was something you mixed with oil to put on a salad - now I know it's in my lens (rather have it in the salad)

Sorry for the last part, but I'm tired.

These aren't specifically "Digital" photography terms, but they may deserve their own entry:

Ambient Light: The natural light in a scene.

Aperture (currently discussed in DOF, et. al.): An adjustable opening in the lens that controls the amount of light passing through to the sensor. Expressed in f-stops, higher numbers (f22) indicate smaller openings for less light; smaller numbers (f1.4) indicate larger openings for more light. Also see: Stop/Stop Down/f-Stop, Depth of Field.

Panning: A photography technique in which the camera/photographer follows a moving subject. Done correctly, the subject is sharp and clear while the background is blurred. This gives a sense of motion to the photo.

Please feel free to competely ignore/re-write my definitions if you feel these terms are worthy.

    about the DOF and aperture:

what helps in understanding the relation between smaller aperture and larger number is mentioning that the number is actually 1/[the number], so the larger the number, the smaller the aperture, as in:
    F/2 = 1/2 = 0.5
    F/4 = 1/4 = 0.25
    That may help some people!

Great, but busy, thanks :D I've just bought an appartement 4 km from where I work (saves me about 3 hours of driving each day, AND I can go by bike!) I've got a new GF for about 4,5 months now, and we're doing great, she's a real sweetie!

How's life at the weather channel? mwink.gif
