Hamburger menu on top of images rather than beneath

I've been following along with the discussion on changing the mobile menu to a hamburger menu. My question is, is there a way to get the menu to be above the images when scrolling, rather than beneath? I've tried adjusting the z-level but so far no good.

Remove your other z-index and add this:

.sm-user-ui .sm-page-widget-nav {
    z-index: 10;
    }
