Croton Point Part I (no birds!)

Today I spent about 2 hours at Croton Point on the Hudson River in New York State - (about 25-30 minutes or so from my house). It's a pretty spot and this is the time of year you might just see some bald eagles (but not in this thread!)...

It's been cold and windy, and that usually means anything near the river gets covered in ice....

But it is pretty and there is plenty of wildlife...

And, at the right time of day, the colors are amazing...

Hopefully, I'll have an opportunity to return, as late January and Feb are the prime times for bald eagles on the hudson...I did see a couple today, but too far away to get a good shot...see Part II!

Regards...Keith

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

All good Keith thumb.gif but like Harry I just love those ice shots thumb.gif If those was posted in Other Kewl Shots, they would be getting lots more comments. But, then again, you did have some deer in your thread....Laughing.gif

Really nice work and did you get your CF card back? :uhoh

    Alas, no...
and to add insult to injury, I'm not sure I even wrote my name & phone on that card - although I know I did on my 2gb extreme. Sometimes these things are just fated - it was a 1gb card and now that I've been trying to shoot raw I was thinking of getting another larger card anyway. Who knows, maybe that new camera coming out later (this)(next)(whatever) year will use SD anyway. Besides, even if there were a couple of bald eagle pics on the card, *I* know they weren't very good - at least for that afternoon. The annoying thing, though, is that I am one of those people that doesn't lose things - I may break them, like eyeglasses, but I think I still have every pair I ever wore.

The good news - Compact flash prices have come down - and maybe it gives me extra incentive to return to the scene of the crime.

    Thanks for asking...regards...Keith

Those are really great shots. And just across the river from me too. I've really got to get over to that park. Not that I'm going to take shots like those though. bowdown.gifbowdown.gif
