Impact of Google's https only move in Blogger: breaks my smugmug links to photos, buy links, etc.

I can still get to smugmug via google's chrome, and can login. But when I go to the organizer I get this error message:
{
"meta": {
"stat": "fail",
"method": "rpc.organizer.getnodesbypath",
"cache": true
},
"results": {
"code": 1,
"message": "invalid login"
}
}

This first occurred to me on a chromebook and after consulting with the fabulous smugmug heros, I unhappily learned that the Chrome OS is not supported by smugmug, just windows and macs. But now I'm on a windows 10 machine that used to only give me minor problems when I used the Chrome browser. Now the organizer and customizer don't work at all in Chrome. Seems to work fine on Firefox, though.

  1. Is this something smugmug can fix by having SSL installed site-wide?
  2. Do I have to go through hoops to set up SSL on the domain I link to smugmug?
  3. Of immediate importance: Can I get https links to work on the sharing links? I have a Google Blogger account, and although the existing links work, if I have to edit one, Google forces an HTTPS and the link will not work.

    This sounds more like a login / cookie issue. I've seen that error pop up before but it's usually when the cookie marking you logged in has expired or can't be properly set. It shouldn't have anything to do with SSL (https). Can you give me more details on your setup: you're on a windows 10 machine using Chrome? Are you able to upload after you see that message? Are you able to access Account Settings without having to re-enter login info?

    The error message was a cookie issue: I had apparently set Chrome to block all third party cookies and it considered smugmug.com a third party to my www.redwoodtwig.com site. I only recently discovered that the little letter "i" with the circle around it that now shows up when the Chrome considers the site no secure can be clicked to reveal information about the site, including who is reading and writing cookies and what's in the cookies. And a button to allow cookie activity per third party site being used. Other sites I've visited have popupped a message when a critical cookie can't be set.

    But my biggest concern is still Blogger. I really want to just have URL links in my blogs to photos or videos I want to include there rather than uploading another copy that I've had to reduce resolution on, cluttering up my hard drive with both the originals and another set of reduced size versions for uploading to Blogger. Plus, I want the option to have a user clicking on the image in my blog to be taken to a smugmug buy page. However the buy links provided by smugmug are http rather than https. While Blogger will allow me to use that link, they warn me, and if I read the tea leaves correctly, the lack of https in something like a buy link will cause problems.
