If not now, when?

I found &#43 which works. But why can I just write +?

We use javasacript to edit the caption on the page right now, and when you encode the javacsript spaces are converted to + signs. I strip those out and it removes all the + signs. I thought I had a fix for this, but it does not appear so :( I will take a look and see what can be done.
