The first is an excellent example of the "Decisive Moment". Excellent composition, with lines and light which lend to a sense of drama and intrigue. The half-hidden vegetation helps to mask any natural aspects in the scene. The physically strong gates heighten the effect.
The second is all about questions; who is this?, where are they going?, is this all they have in the world or are they moving on in the world?
The setting is fortunately simple behind the subject, but busy to the sides. It looks as though the subject is about to walk out of frame, and out of our awareness.
Each image is independently strong. Each image is pretty fantastic!
