I'm on a business trip and managed to take a little time to visit "The Mall". I had not been there since they finished the World War II monument. It's quite a memorial site when there aren't busloads of kids running around. Didn't have a tripod so had to manage with handheld shots for all except the panoramic (I set the camera on the wall for that one).

As always, comments welcomed.

Erich

#'s 2 & 3 thumb.gif . The lighting & textures are what caught my eye. I can't make up my mind about #4, to my eye everything appears to centered.
excellent shots considering that you didn't have a tripod.

Good stuff - love #2 & #3. They did a great job with that memorial. You've got to be there with the fountains going. Check out some shots of it here:

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your comments. #2 is my favorite also.

Phil, you got some great captures in that gallery. I like how the fountains look at the memorial.

Really nice shots of DC's Mall Memorial!!

If #4 is centered, it is a good shot for that. I do like well done centering and that is that. Brings out the reflection.

I like the time of day/night you chose to shoot.

Great series. #2 is outstanding. clap.gifclap.gif The kid in #3 makes the shot (reminding me, yet again, that I need to put more people into my pictures!) I'm with Ginger on #4. There are times when it works best to break the rule of thirds rule. thumb.gif

Thanks Ginger. The sky had an eerie orange glow that evening. It was a low cloud cover so it was picking up the reflection from all the city lights.

    Thanks FG.

Yes, I was trying to use the symmetry of the shapes to accentuate the monument. These are times when centering works....
