A difficult cropping decision.

Crop to frame the shooter more prominently, or crop to emphasize the short basket
by including the whole building?

I think it's good to see the overall perspective here - the full building helps.

At first I would have said crop in, as the height of the hoop is self evident. However, I think the building and its decay adds to the scene. I would leave it as is, I like this!

Yes, the portrait crop works well for this. I'll bet he can dunk the ball almost every time!

I agree, leave it as it is. This tells the complete story.

    Thanks for the comments.

I'm glad it's agreed that the wider shot is better. This was a one-off quick shot from the
car window, and the boy was not all that in focus. At shutter prioriity and 1//125th, f/18
it worked well enough, but I was some distance away using an 18/55 lens at 55. Got lucky
    catching the action.

I don't think it would bear much as a tighter shot on the boy.

I think that the blurriness of the boy adds a sense of action. Hey, I like blurry shots anyway... :)
