Mini-Challenge #250: Agriculture

sarasphotossarasphotos Registered Users Posts: 3,863 Major grins

I'm a city dweller but grew up on a farm. In the course of my travels whether in my immediate area or afar I find myself often drawn to agricultural scenes. In this challenge I'd like to see everyone's pictures of agricultural scenes. The pictures can be of a farm building, farm equipment, a field/fields of crops or livestock or the production process (making cheese or wine, pressing oil, etc.).

This mini wil end Thursday August 3 at 9am PDT/18:00 CEDT.

Here are a few examples:

Vineyards and apple orchards in the area of Meran, Italy:

Cows licking my hand: :)

Evening wheat:

Wine barrel staves, Napa Valley:

...my brothers unloading corn in 1962...

Have fun!

What an original theme! It will be interesting to see what people come up with!

1 Irrigation for an Idaho farm

2 The Banana Plantations of Madeira Island

3 Crop circles as seen over Eastern Washington

@JAG Joyce, thanks for being the first to enter. You've captured the theme perfectly!

    Here are my entries:

    1) Shenandoah Valley, Amador County, California, near the Sierra Nevada Foothills. The "other" Napa Valley.

    2) Palouse region of eastern Washington/western Idaho. Farm country with dramatic rolling Loess hills bearing wheat and canola.

    3) One of my favorite barns covered with ivy (in Fall) along highway 193 between Newcastle and Lincoln, Ca.

Fun theme. One of my first art projects in school, I did a man standing on a hill overlooking a valley of fields - made the fields as a plaid. As you can see I'm better with color than I am with actual drawing

Glad you reminded me of this - the paper has gotten very brittle. This was the portfolio picture

Since I found my art projects, I'm changing the photos

    1. Lambing season in West Yorkshire (the lambs and mothers are marked with spray paint - the color of the paint indicates how many lambs the mother has - 1, 2 or 3)

    2. Fields from the air taking off from Venice, Italy

    3. **Coffee **

    2. Strawberry Farm

I'll try to find another one, but don't know if I have much for this topic.

    @grandmaR Thanks for entering!

@slpollett Hmmm, Sherry, don't you live in Texas?? I would think there's lots of agriculture there! At any rate, glad you entered the one photo and hope you find (or take) more.

Well, Sara, yes I do live in Texas, but I tend to take a lot of bluebonnet and wildflower pictures more so than farm/agriculture images. We do visit a strawberry farm every spring, but most of my pics from those trips are of family members enjoying the strawberries more than the fields or just the berries or anything obviously farm stuff. I think I have some of just the fields, but I'll have to find them.

Great topic! I am really enjoying seeing the entries for this mini! Here are 3 photos of mine, but please don't consider them as entries. (I have too many work and travel commitments over the next month.)

    1) The Pasture (Netherlands)

    2) Eye Contact (Lake District, UK)

    3) Cultivating the Land (Kisii region of Kenya)

Nice theme Sara, for me the problem was again "selection". To many to choose from. But here's my three submissions.

    1: Winter leeks

2: Wine Terraces along the Ahr

3: Agriculture, can be inside and outside

I like the Netherlands pasture. I considered using one of mine of cows wading in the river, but I couldn't find it.

I haven't participated for a while, and I don't have much for agriculture. But, here goes anyway.
    1. Taro fields near Hanalei, Kauai

A great theme Sara. It is funny that I worked in agriculture for all of my career, and left behind a great collection of agriculture images when I retired, but these belong to my former employer. Oh Well!
Here are a few from my image collection

    1) a cattle chute in the Chilcotin area of British Columbia

    2) Blueberries ripening in the Fraser Valley, BC

    3) Sunset over a farmhouse/restaurant in the Swiss Jura near Delemont.
