Hi
My website is www.dhruvmehtaphotogrphy.com. I am a student of photography and I am on a learning curve. I am always looking for feedback on my website and on my photos. When I ask people to open my website, the click on a photograph, lightbox opens up and to go back, they always hit the back button and that takes them to the previous page, I want to be able to see the left tab at all times so they know where they are and can go back anytime.

First off, you link doesn't work. I assume this is your site: www.dhruvmehtaphotography.com.
Not sure I understand your question. You don't have any galleries, just your home page displaying about 12 pictures. You can't force a user to not use the back button on their browser. The first image doesn't have a clickable left arrow because it's the first photo. Same as the last one. There isn't a clickable arrow on the right because it's the last photo.

Sorry, for the typo!
What I meant is to be able to see the left tab at all times even if a photo is open in lightbox and once you click on a photo, it should only open on the body area and should not overlap the left tab with my menu! http://www.marcelobarbosaphoto.com/cfadeziygalediudjh8r2yq7gha1o2 - Something like this!
Was working on more work, so added more galleries now.

That example is not from SmugMug. I don't think you can do that with SmugMug.

Like @Hikin' Mike, I'm not aware of any way to change the lightbox the way you requested. It appears that the site you pointed to is on Squarespace.

I'm sure lightbox is also CSS based. So, if I can change the size in CSS by using width property maybe? Is there a way I can get the lightbox CSS? Or do I have to use an entirely different CSS gallery?

Lightbox is a direct child of the Body tag. Here is the class name and path:
sm-user-overlay-container.sm-lightbox-mask.sm-lightbox-basic
Yes, you can try changing the "size" and "left" properties. But because it is not structurally contained within you main content area you will never be able to match it to the screen so it does not overlap with the Left Sidebar.
