Beyond Walls :: Lynn, MA

It was pure luck that I heard a story on NPR about a mural festival in Lynn, MA. Knowing I wanted to see the murals, I thought about waiting until the art was all completed but then I decided I'd like to see some of the work in progress. The festival (and the creation process) ran from July 13th through the 23rd; I visited on the 22nd.

The murals were simply amazing!

If you're in the Boston area I highly recommend a visit. The owners of the buildings had to agree to leave the murals in place for at least a year; hopefully they will remain for much longer than that.

It definitely is!

I just found out about another town not too far from here that has been encouraging murals - I'll probably head there within the next week or so.

I am too Richard. I'm very glad I heard the NPR story; without that I wouldn't have known about the murals.

I thought the links might be useful to anyone in the area, and I'm always interested in the story behind the art.

The murals are incredible and you did an excellent job of capturing them. By including the working "pull-backs", you've also captured history as well. I hope you'll return and shoot them again after the construction equipment is removed.

Thanks! I'm planning to head back again to see (and shoot) the finished murals, just not sure of an exact time.
