Heage Windmill - Derbyshire

Built in 1797 and restored in 2002 Heage Windmill, a Grade II listed building, is the only working, stone-towered, six-sailed windmill in England. The windmill is set in the Derbyshire countryside, providing spectacular views towards the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.

Although it's within a few miles of my house, this was my first visit to see the beautiful Heage Windmill. This morning was quite a stormy affair and, dodging the showers managed to get a few shots. As the windmill only opens at weekends, I couldn't get around the front for a full view of the sails, I'll save that for another day.

Thanks for all the kind words, really appreciated.

I think if I had ordered the weather especially for this shot, it couldn't have been much better. I did get a bit of a soaking though, dodging all the showers.

Really great, I can just feel the grandness of the structure, and the dark cloud above somehow suits the mood. Great job.
