Create Second Header??

I'd like to make some changes to my website; cynthiamerzerphotography.com/. I'm very happy with my homepage and really like the way the slideshow background image takes up the full screen with the menu on the left as a transparent overlay. What I don't like is the solid block that the menu takes up on every other page.

What I would like to do is create a second header (I think that's what is called??) to appear on every page except the homepage with the logo and menu on the top kind of like how it is done on this site; photom.me/Personal

How can I do this?

There is a setting if you go to your home page (Customize > Content and Design) you'll see "Settings" on the top right. You'll see a window called "Design Settings". Turn 'ON' the Independent Homepage. You may have to re-create your navigation for both you home page and your other pages.

Tried that but when I went into the preview, nothing was on the homepage except for the full screen slideshow and the menu bar still shows up to the left everywhere else. Leaves me with space for header and footer but cant figure out how to edit them

I don't use the preview.

To be honest, I've never tried to make my homepage separate. I'm not going to try it.

Did you try to publish it and take a look. Like I said, you may have to edit your home page AND your other pages.

I just tried it live. When you make your home page independent, you will have to re-create your menu. Once done, you need to edit the other pages by going to the 'Entire Site' section. You can edit your header/footer there.
