Excellent shots Michael but I hate it when someone says I got a new lens here are the pictures and then doesn't say what frigging lens it is. :pissed

I want to get out to the Venice Rookery so bad! I've been told that you need at least 400mm and 500mm is best out there. What's your take on it?

The shots are a bit dark, have you tried applying curves to the shots to give them some more punch?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Very nice Mike thumb.gif

I really like the backgrounds, with the green leaves and those red berries. Very good exposure on those GBH's clap.gif So are you going back when the younguns arrive? That should make for some killah shots.

Thanks everyone, they have no pp. Just changed to jpg. If I remember(to lazy to go look)settings were 1/640 at f/9.

Sorry to disappoint Harry, it's the 400 f/5.6L. those are uncropped, so I would think that 500 would be over kill unless you stand in the parking lot. I had to step back a bit to fit the baby in the bottom of those shots.

I guess your welcome on our coast Harry after all you've invited us to your area. We've got several good steak house's and I'm sure we can find someone to mess up a pizza too. The Rookery is pretty small but you can always count on a shot or 2.

Well done you bum. thumb.gifthumb.gifrolleyes1.gif . I get stuck going to the airport to pickup lil' sis and the kids. Pfffff. The little ones are in..eh? I might have to run down there.

Harry....I shoot with a 200mm at the rookery. Sometimes a 300mm. The island is not that far from the shore....and the birds often make flyovers. Anything from 200mm - 500mm is plenty. They don't allow Nikons on the property though. :uhoh :D jk. Let us know when you are coming. I'll reserve a table and some white spray paint from Lowes. rolleyes1.gif

I love that last nestling. They are all good shots. You are using my birding lens.

I am going to assume you like it since it brought you babies in January.

The birds must be "weather" confused. Most things in nature are.

I wouldn't want to see the photos punched up too much, you did good on that exposure.
