Keeping my video snippets under control

I'm mostly a still photographer but I do record a video or two and I would like to keep these videos in some kind of order. Does anyone know of a macOS program that makes it easy to keep track of my video snippets?

I don't want to use Photos since I consider it to be an intermediate step in storing my photos, and Lightroom ... well, I would prefer something else.

My favourite program so far has been ClipStart but I've had problems with it during the last couple of years.

My requirements are: runs on macOS, I would like to be able to store the video on some external drive, easy way to search and tag videos. As alternative to my Mac I could also use some kind of app that runs on a Synology NAS.

Any suggestions?
