I want to make a video with both still pictures and videos. I want the file format to be compatible with both youtube and smugmug.. Any software(hopefully free)that you can recommend? thanks

    Not free but Proshow Gold is excellent

    My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

    MS Powerpoint can be a good start, but I'm not sure you can mix photos and videos together or just photos. Or Adobe Spark, which is definitely can meet your requirements, and you can create a slide show online, no need to download the whole software.
