Sounds like Rags and David are suggesting the same thing. I think it works, but I still prefer the original. I guess that's because when I took the shot, I didn't even see the cool reflections in the balloons, just a guy selling them in front of a carousel. It was only in post that I noticed the trippy detail.
Great picture and a very pleasing conversion. For my part, I think the original version works very well and I also don't think that the carousel horses are distracting.
I love the overall composition and the surreal, mind boggling reflections in the balloons.

Love the B&W, Richard. How about a 1:1 crop of just the right side, without the horse? I tried it by sliding the browser window over left.
