slideshow arrows - how to have them stay in exact place relative to images in slideshow

All the image in my slideshow are the exact same size. I want the back and forward arrows to always be just a few pixels on the left and right, respectively, of the images. In other words, when the window resizes, the arrows will still be just a few pixels on the left and on the right of the image. And I don't want the arrows to overlap on the images (except I understand that when the window is absurdly small, that would happen).

Currently, I have some CSS code that puts the arrows on the far left and the far right of the window, but I want to move them in so that they're just a few pixels to the left and right of the images.
