great shots, Steve as usual ! especially like the 1st two - great eyes there. the last one looks a little duller/flatter than the rest..

That is sharp in every way. How you get so much detail in the blacks and the white so good 'together' is very cool

Thank you Vandana. You're right about the 3rd shot, I didn't notice that until you said something. Thanks

Thank you Thusie. The black and white birds can be difficult. It's a little easier this time of year with the sun low on the horizan. If it was mid-day summer the whites get blown out easier. Generally I shoot the black and white ones with either 0 to -1/3 exposure compensation. Trying to keep the whites as far to the right on the histogram without overexposing them. Then fix the darks in post processing.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

    Very nice Steve thumb.gifthumb.gif

A beautiful little bird. You caught some nice poses and lighting on him. I liked the muted colors in the BG of the first two shots. But, I have to admit, that snow BG ain't half bad either clap.gif

    Little birds
Steve, you set the bar high to achieve the perfect exposure of black next to white. The biggest problem in any situation to get that perfect balance. You've got the touch. I like the first best, but all are above standard.
