Question about Sigma 105mm Macro

I have one of these coming and I have a Close Up 250D.....anyone ever coupled these 2 together? :thumb
If so how does it work? Super close good quality? :dunno

I plan to do 90% Macro and 10% Portrait with it.

Anyone even have this lens? What's your report on it?

I was looking at a Tamron Sp 90mm XR Di and a Canon 100mm Macro.
Then this Sigma EX DG 105mm came up on FM at a very resonable price!

    Check with Brian - LVetinari - but I believe most of his shots are done with a Sigma 105 macro.

    A 250D or a 500D should work just fine on the front of it.thumb.gif

    i though Brian's were the Sigma 150 macroheadscratch.gif

    I have one too. It's a really super lens. Check out some of my bugs and flowers - most of them were taken with this lens.

    Sorry must have missed this.
    Confirm I do use a sigma 105 EX macro lens (non-dg). I've been told that the DG version is one of the few sigma lenses that has more than just coatings altered and is supposed to better.
    I Haven't used a 250D on it though so can't comment other than it works well with a reversed 50mm lens on the front .

    Can wait to play with that puppy on my 10D with my 420EX flash and the Sto-Fen should come in handy.

    Now to decide if I want a off shoe cord or a Strobo frame?headscratch.gif

    Dunno what a strobo frame is, but the off shoe cable is indespensible to me. Means you can get the flash right up to the front of the lens (no shadows from the lens itself).

    Thanks for the linky John - that bracket means that an off camera cable is still required for the camera to communicate with the flash. Like Brian V, I've hacked my own bracket to suit the way I work.
