Did anyone else get the following invitation from Canon? Not sure what to think of it.

I can confirm that Canon has a healthy Artificial Intelligence research program (with some published results), but I would proceed cautiously. I don't see any references to a Canon RAISE program specifically.

Assuming that you are still in Canon CPS, use your contact information and credentials, and ask them directly at CPS about the RAISE program.

It's legitimately from Canon (I'm currently in CPS, and the mail headers all check out). I think it's a little strange that they're asking photographers to upload their "best" representative work and in return only giving a chance at some Canon eCash. Seems a little legitimately phishy. I just wonder if I'm missing some magical benefit other than to know I'm helping build Canon's AI.

We live in strange times. Some magazines have begun to ask for a fee in order to published within their magazine pages.

Still, as you are an invitee, unless you voice your opinion directly back to Canon (either http://canon.com/support/ or raisesupport@cusa.canon.com) it's likely that your comments will be missed by Canon management.

I'm a CPS Platinum member and never heard of this. I think it's highly suspicious that any company would ask you to send them 50 of your best images. Is there any kind of Terms of Service, User Agreement, Privacy agreement, etc? A google search for Canon CPS RAISE only hits for this thread. If it was real you'd think there would be something out there.

Yes, I agree that this is not normal Canon behavior. Links provided by Chris and myself do appear to be legitimately related to Canon USA. (However, I didn't find anything related to RAISE in either Canon corporate or the other regional Canon offices.)

Odd too that the RAISE sites do not support Internet Explorer? (Is this how the AI/Robot Uprising starts?)
