too early to "hawk"

this morning at 7:00 am I was on my computer looking at recent posts when i heard the crows going crazy. i remember someone saying that crows will often ward off hawks. i opened my shades, window closed only 5 feet from me was this "hawk".... all i had ready was my 400 mm which was way too long and the best shutter speed i could get at ISO 1600 was 1/100. but at least i "knew" how to find the hawk.......

pretty cool for a out of the window shot !! I'm afraid we'll have to wait for some experts for the id - the only hawk I've heard of is the red-tailed

Hi Troy, you did great, mighty nice to have them so near, and inevitably I have the wrong lens on too! lolol Once at the zoo the apes came to the glass attacking and pounding the glass and I was too close for focus! geesh!

I am just getting in to birding, and it's fun to learn the different sounds of the birds.
