Death Valley - forgotten shot

A couple of years ago I went to Death Valley and posted some shots. Today I found this one that I left out and I think has some potential. Thoughts?

I have a similar shot... interesting topography (colors, etc)...

But where do you go with it?

I agree, that's probably the reason I left it out originally...

    Please try:
4x3 crop - full height - left side only

Certainly improves the composition to these eyes. Removes a couple of distracting elements and adds a better diagonal bounding line to the lower right.

Also try a further 2x1 crop from the 4x3 crop, this time using the width of the above crop and turn on the "rule of thirds" grid.

I can demonstrate the crop suggestions, if you wish?

That be great thanks! Not sure I understand your second suggestion.

    Something like this?

    Thanks, Cristóbal.

This is the 4x3 crop from your original:

... And this is the 2x1 crop from the 4x3 crop:

Your crop also looks better than the original, for pretty much the same reasons. In short, the original image just needs some simplification to bring out the strengths in the scene you captured.

@ziggy53 thanks for the examples. You've given me something to think about!

@Juano I like your second image.

Thanks Ziggy, I think all the crops are improvements. Thanks Denise.
