Kidding around in Yosemite

This shot was taken in Sept. 2004 when I had my wife with me on one of my western trips. It is actually two shots of the same scene so I could have both my wife and moutains in focus. I did an extract of the in-focus foreground and then layered it over the in-focus background. The shot was taken at Glacier Point looking toward Half Dome.

As stated, we were just kidding around and thought that her "Go Climb A Rock" sweatshirt and Half Dome were made for each other.

I am seldom successful using a real live person to create a sense of depth to a picture like this. With the sweat shirt it comes off great! I guess the composition of two picts help.

    Thanks, Sid and Jim.

If I had taken the tripod with me I would have just stopped down to get the DOF needed to have both the foreground and background in focus. Since I didn't have it I just shot the same scene twice handheld with one shot focused on Half Dome and the second shot focused on my wife. Because of the distinct difference between the fore and background I was able to extract the in-focus foreground with my wife and just pasted it into the shot with the in-focus backgound.
