A muddy day on the rugby pitch

When I woke up this morning and heard it raining, I knew that I was in for an enjoyable afternoon; regardless of the weather.

On a good day, athletic teams from Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia don't get along. A muddy rugby pitch only heightens those emotions.

You know someday I will learn what rugby is. I have seen it a few times in channel changing, but never took the time to learn what the game really is..

Looks like a real rough (mans) game..

    Thanks for the pictures

Nice job! Where did they play?

I dunno how much you've already cropped, it at all, but you could make a sweet crop of the first one.

They played over at the "Burger Bowl" on the Tech campus; that's where Tech plays all of its home games.

I cropped the first one a little bit. I started to crop it down to just the ball carrier and the guy tackling him; I still may do so later.

    Thanks for the comments (everyone).

The landscape photographer in me seems to always take over when I'm cropping shots; which isn't necessarily a good strategy when working with sports shots.

Taking Wxwax's suggestion, I cropped this one down (the orginal was uncropped). The cropped version does accentuate the elegance and finesse of the game. :):

    Thanks again for the suggestion.

These shots are fanastic, and those guys are nuts.

On the crop, have you tried moving it right, so that the guy to the right is in the shot? I like how he's looking there, and if the two were on the left, him on the right, it might make it more dynamic? What do you think?

When I left for the game yesterday, the primal side of my psyche was mostly thinking about how much fun it is to watch rugby played on a muddy field.

The fact that I managed to take this shot proves the old adage that even a blind pig will find an acorn now and then.

Thank you very much. I'm humbled and honored.

Nice crop, it looks good, KMCC. thumb.gif Sounds stupid, but until I saw the crop I hadn't realized the tackler's legs were both in the air.
