    Very surreal, something like Mars. I have seen the desert this red. I bet you didnt use a filter. Nice composition to include the sagauro and the glow from the cholla is a bonus.

    I have to admit, Don, that I don't find the typical desert environment very appealing.....just not my cup of tea. However, the work you do with desert scenes is often striking and evocative. This image is one of those. Great work.

    I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

    Thanks for the comments. I certainly understand not liking the desert--I have some old friends who can't believe I chose to live here. But I loved it at first sight.

    I said at first that I didn't use a filter on this but I was wrong--there was a polarizer on the lens.

    nicely captured! It's great that while my eyes are drawn to the vivid colors I can still see the cactus in the foreground.
