Meghalaya, India - Scotland of the East

India is extremely diverse, and there is no place more diverse in India than the Northeast. Over the many years, all my travels never took me there but this year I finally managed to go. Meghalaya is a state in Northeast India and one of the easier states to get to. There is only a road connection that is reliable but it is worth the 3 hour trip from Guwahati in Assam.

Here are my photos from 3 parts of Meghalaya.
Dawki - at the border of India and Bangaladesh, this is at the bottom of the mountains by the Dawki river. A few kilometers north is the village of Mawlynnong, once voted Asia's cleanest village. There is also a lovely natural, Living Root Bridge.

Umiam Lake - views here are similar to waht I saw in Scotland, thus making the moniker true.

Shillong - The capital.
