Link to single photo when owner hidden

Is it possible to link to a single item? When I grab the URL it goes to the whole gallery.

Where did you grab the URL?

I just tested hide owner on one of my galleries. If I open the photo in lightbox, then click Share, once I select the size I am given a link to the photo. I have verified that this is a photo link as opposed to a gallery link.

You can also copy the URL from the browser if the photo is open in lightbox.

Cannot get this to work no matter where I grab URL. Tried Chrome and Safari. Video and still photo. All links go back to the gallery and not the specific image.

    Test gallery:

    Grab share for photo:

This is what I get from the share button after choosing a size. It exposes the path and gallery name.
But it does not expose the site.

I deleted the path/gallery name, except top level, and this link works.

Deleting all the path also works.

BTW, the "share" button disappears when the gallery is set to "Private".

Have you tried using the share button?

The "share" button disappears when the gallery is set to "Private".

None of the links the OP had were photo links.

If the gallery is set to Private no one can see the photos except for the logged in user.

With Hide owner set to yes...
I see a share button when the gallery is set to hide owner, but only if I am logged in to smug. As soon as I log out the share button disappears. But I have verified that I can use the share button when I am logged in to get the URL of the photo. That URL works in a browser where I am not logged in to show the photo.

To share a photo from a gallery set to hide owner:

    • While logged in to smug, open the photo you want to share in Lightbox
    • Click the Share button
    • Select the size photo you want to share
    • Copy the URL from the Share box, then provide that URL to access the photo

It doesn't appear there is a way to open the Lightbox using a shared link within a Hide Owner gallery. The gallery will load, with the photo selected, but the Lightbox remains closed. Clicking on the photo will then open the Lightbox.

I'm reaching out to the team to understand if that's intended.

I was missing the need to pick a size and then copy the jpg or mp4 file from that newly created link. Thank you very much.

Hi everyone, thank you for this topic. I had the same issue with sharing only one photo and I didn't know that I muss choose a size. Link under "Photo Link" line sounds more logical but it shares whole Unlisted album :-(.
