Ideas, Resources and Recommendations for Starting to Sell Event Photography via Smugmug (or others)

I'm a very experienced amateur photographer and I'm finding myself at more and more events. I shoot people-shots extensively at these and I would like to sell them to the attendees for a nominal charge to support my habit. I want to share the photos as widely as possible, but I'm unsure about the best ways to share the photos without ruining the opportunity to sell them to attendees.

You have two issues here, whether you should share photos for exposure, and selling photos at events.

Do you have an agreement with the event organizers to sell your photos at the events? Without an agreement and a setup onsite I think you are going to have a hard time selling event photos.
