Question About Subscription Renewal

I noticed last year my Smugmug renewed but I was out of town and it wasn't activated until I returned home and got on my Smugmug page to click a few buttons. Had I been out of town for a few weeks more I think my account could have been deleted??

What's the story about subscription renewal? Why doesn't it do it automatically without my presence??

    Your account will automatically renew. It sounds like your payment-on-file may have been expired last year and updated information was required for your renewal to successfully process. Assuming everything is all set you should be automatically renewed this year.
