Went to Arastradero OSP last year, about the same time. Lots of good oak trees, without leaves. It was a nice morning, and a buddy of mine that I ride with wanted to go, so it was a good excuse to get out there.

I've been looking for a good place to photograph these live oak trees. Tried the east side of 280, just west of Stanford but there's NO parking! I'm not in the area that often, but next time I am, I'll save some time to at least drive through. Can't hike or bike, so I'll see what I can see from the parking lot.
I really like this last photo with the moon in it.

If I'd had more time, I would have backed up 100 yards and taken the shot with the 70-200. That would have made the moon like 5x larger... I think it would have been nicer.
There's a gate at the very tippy top of the hill on Arastradero... I went through the gate and walked about 200 meters to where I took most of the shots. Thing is, you can't park at the gate... I parked about 200 meters down the road (toward Alpine Road) and there's a little turnout. If you can't hike/walk at all, I'm not sure it's as easy from the parking lot, because the lot is 200 feet below. It's a great location though!

Isn't that typical? :
Well I can't walk far, but maybe if I take my time I could do this. It looks hilly though and I do better on flat ground. I'll keep it in mind. Figures you have to park in some little pull out and hike! Grrrrrrrrr.
I'm trying to get in shape, but right now I have an injured Achilles heel tendon.
I head in that direction when I go to Fry's so it's just on the other side of 280 off of Page Mill, right?
You know we've probably driven past this a time or two and never knew it was a preserve. Hubby loves to explore back roads while I worry about getting stuck at some dead end... Oh well...
