Site background color change.

Is there an easy way for me to change my current black background color on my site to white, and in the same or minimal change to switch the text from white to black? I've been thinking about this for some time and just wondered if this would be an easy change or would it be easier for me to build a separate site along side of it. I've put so much work into my current site so far that it seems monumentous to completely build a new one.
Thanks so much for your help!

You really don't have a lot of custom stuff looking at your theme's custom CSS, so you can copy/paste it to a new theme. The only time you will lose custom tuff is if you put it into your theme's custom CSS. If you put CSS blocks in your pages/galleries, they carry over to a new theme.

How is it that you start a new theme and work on it while your original site is still functioning? Or to have multiple sites that you switch back and forth to, or is that even advised? I use Lightroom to upload to SM, can you upload to more than one site at a time? Sorry if this is confusing lol
The theme is just what it looks like, that has nothing to do with uploads.

So how would I begin a new site while my existing site is still up and functioning?
If you just want to change background and text colors, then you can just edit your theme or pick a new Site-wide theme (Customize > Site-Wide Theme). Keep in mind that once you pick a theme from that drop-down, and save it, your site is updated. If you are going to go with a totally different look/color, then you can pick a new theme (Customize > Chose a New Site Design). You can preview and customize it before you publish it. You can also save it (your customization) for later.
