Help changing mobile and desktop homepage layout

I am using the Sierra layout. On a desktop my homepage slideshow is full page. All horizontal photos. However when I look at it on a mobile device, it cuts the edges off and it doesn’t look great. From what I gather from looking at the forums that is how it is supposed to work.
Is there a way to have a homepage on mobile that displays my slideshow pictures, but as a scrolling type layout (how my galleries look) instead of a “slideshow” and vice versa?

The only way to make a slideshow fit within the confines of the browser (without cropping) is to use a slideshow block. You can add a slideshow block on your home page and use media queries to hide your full-screen slideshow on mobiles and hide the slideshow block on desktops.
Add this to a CSS block only on your home page:
