Sorting in homepage: seems not possible for recent photos.

In the home page settings, multiple photos, if SELECT FROM is set to RECENT PHOTOS is not possible (or i have not found a way) to sort by DATE TAKEN (or any other parameter) automatically. The only way to sort photos seems to be doing a manual selection. Now i have a single gallery so i don't have problems because in that gallery photos are sorted by DATE TAKEN. But if one day i'll create another gallery i won't be able to automatically sort photos in the homepage by date taken. Thanks.
P.S. I would also like to order in reverse (by the most recent taken picture to the older one). This is now possible in the gallery settings.
