The white brackets are a familiar sight on elderly standing or fallen Silver Birch trees. Less often seen are the new fruiting bodies, which start of brown, There is one of each on the trunk of a recumbent tree in this image.
The sunlight was just about to move off this spot and it was to quick for me to get a second image for a good stereo pair.
