Asterophoroa lycopodoides, a Mushroom Parasitic on Mushrooms

This is one of two species of [i]Asterophora[/i] parasitic in mushrooms, mainly on [i]Russula [/i] species.

The lumpy, rock-like background is the decaying cap of the host. The brown, tree trunk-like structure is the stem of the host.

The stereos are crosseye.
