Cluster Fly Pollenia sp, probably rudis
I found this on a fern on the edge of an area of heathland at Padworth Common Nature Reserve on 9 September.
Thanks to Brian for pointing out (PM) my initial ID was incorrect. The golden hairs on the thorax indicate that it emerged recently.
Cluster larvae are parasites of earthworms
