EOS Files
I just noticed that the CS3 files from my EOS R are Ps files. I'm concerned because what if I stop using Photoshop? Files up until now - CS2 in 5DMkII (up to about a month ago) all come through as normal files that will open in my file browser. The PS files trigger Photoshop to open. Please advise. Thank you.

I think I have the answer. The Ps logo is simply the software that is associated with opening the file. I spoke at length with Canon and have a better understanding of it all now.

Additionally, if you should desire to change the CS3 file association to another application to open the RAW files, it's not too difficult to make that change.
In other words, you aren't locked into using Adobe Photoshop; you have options.

My EOS R Raw files are all .CR3 files , which are seen and identified on my Mac as image files by Finder.
I convert them to DNGs upon import into LR - out of force of habit I think. :-)
