These were on chalk grassland in late November, where lots of leaves from deciduous trees had blown to and accumulated.

There are 63 species in Britain. These are about 5cm across. Other species are smaller and at least one up to considerably larger.

I also find them in the mown lawns at the local cemetery.

Olympus EM-1, (aperture priority), Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, 1/3 at f11 and 1/50 at f8, ISO 800, hand-held.

The stereos are crosseye.
