Landscape photos and haze before and after Photoshop Elements haze removal tool

Gook some photos and Sequoia & Kings Canyon last week before the snowstorms hit. Mostly pretty happy with the photos--ignore the touch-up I need to do--but the halo around the trees is a bit distracting and if I use Photoshop Elements' haze removal tool, it really jumps out and looks awful Any tips on how to get rid of the halo? I've seen some YouTube tip videos for Photoshop, but not Elements.

Visible halos around the trees, center and right. Maybe overdone, or did you use any other tools that might have caused the halos?

    Yup.

Looking back at my work in Lightroom, I think I got heavy-handed adjusting the highlights and whites. I need to get better with both of those bits of software.

I reset the pic and will give editing a fresh go.

    Thanks!
