Adding to / changing slideshow aspect ratios

I'd like to use a 2:1 aspect ratio for a slideshow, but there isn't an option for this and I want the slideshow to fill the height and width of space that I'm allocating to it without any borders. Does anyone know if CSS can override the preset aspect ratios?
