Is there a way to use drag and drop to create a copy of an element?

I'd like to have a spacer element that is the same size as an existing spacer element on my home page. I'd like to be able to hold down the control key and drag the spacer to where I want the new one to be, and have a new one created there that matches the original. Or use Ctrl-C to copy the element and Ctrl-V to paste it where I want it. Or some such thing. Is there a way to do that?
