Images in Google Search Results
Hi everyone!
I just realized, that not even one of my public photos appears in Google search results. Before SmugMug I used Wordpress and all of my public images could be found. Now I try to understand, why Google does not like my images.
Example: https://www.berndhartenberger.com/Fotografien/Stadt/i-dk7CQc7
This photo is in my sitemap-file sitemap-galleryimages.xml.gz. Google obviously had no problem to read it. But according to Google Search Console all links in this file are "Excluded - Discovered – currently not indexed" (see also screenshot).
Is there something I can do (except of going back to a Wordpress)?
Many thanks for any advice.
Bernd

@Hikin' Mike : Thank you very much, Mike. That ist really strange. It shows me a lot of photos which I added two days ago to a new gallery. It also shows some of my "old" photos but only with the title of the corresponding gallery instead of the title of the photo. And the links of those photos in the search results lead to the gallery instead of the actual photo. :-(

I wrote a series of blog posts on my attempts to get my photos indexed. You might find my struggles interesting.

Basically, Google apparently won't index your SmugMug photos unless you somehow make them popular via backlinks, traffic and domain authority. And even then, it seems Google doesn't like photo galleries. Google analyzes text on pages and ignores images because it can't determine what they contain or whether they have "value". And our photo pages are usually light on text.
