Issue when my website first loads

Hello,
I have my website set up to run a slideshow on the homepage. I noticed that when my site first loads, the photo from the "Sierra" template loads first just for a couple of seconds before my own slideshow runs. Anyway to stop that Sierra image from loading? Website is www.chuckrobinsonphoto.com
Secondly, is there a place in this forum for someone to receive feedback or suggestions on the layout of their website?
