Google Photo Upload Suggestions

As a Google G Suite user, I currently use Google Photos as a secondary backup location for all my iPhone photos. Now that Google no longer offers functionality to automatically sync photos to my local desktop, I am finding it to be a very tedious process to get my photos uploaded into SmugMug. I realize that SmugMug is limited by the APIs that Google makes available; however, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to offer that might streamline my process? I had thought I'd found an acceptable workaround by using my iPhone to upload the photos. Specifically, I'd select the photos in the Google Photos app, click the "Share to..." button, and then select the SmugMug app. However, I've found that I can only select two photos - if I select more, the SmugMug option inexplicably disappears from the app options. So, here is my current process.
1. Google iPhone app is configured to backup photos taken on my iPhone to Google Photos.
2. In Google Photos, I organize the photos into albums.
3. I download the album (as a zip file) to my local computer.
4. I upload the photos to SmugMug and then delete them from my computer.
Ultimately, I'd like to be able to manage the photos either all online or just from my desktop - having to use both is a bummer. Thanks for the help.

I'm a little unclear on what you're goal is -- are you trying to get all of your phone photos into SmugMug? If so, the SmugMug app has an auto-upload functionality that will behave similarly to GPhotos and upload all your photos to SM.
Or are you trying to get your phone photos from your phone to your desktop?

If it would help, the SmugMug iOS app now has auto-upload, the ability to edit photos, and the ability to move photos. You could Auto-Upload to SmugMug, then use the built in editor to crop the photos as you want, then move them to the gallery of your choice. Moving can be done on individual photos or in bulk.
