Milky Way - Toadstool Hoodoos

Hi all,

I decided to run away from the city for a couple of weeks to my fave place - The American Southwest. Yesterday, I arrived at Kanab and decided to visit the Toadstool Hoodoos. I initially wanted to shoot the Milky Way over the Hoodoos, but came across this composition and couldn't resist. I took the foreground around 8 pm and the MW around 11:30 pm or so. The MW is at ISO 3200, f/2.8, 15 seconds. The other one is ISO 64, f/16, 1/20 (for the foreground I also took five shots - first one focused near and the last focused far) and then focus stacked them.

Thanks for looking - I can't wait to head out tonight again... somewhere... out there... alone in the dark... with the rattlesnakes...

Cheers,

Very nice. Thanks for the technical information. I have a couple shots in mind, but have never shot the night sky. Now all I have to do is get away, and get out there and give it a try.

I don't know where I'm going, but I'm going anyway.
