While I am more drawn to the EOS R5, I think it would meet my current personal needs better, the Canon EOS R6 shares many desirable qualities, and may be a more appropriate camera for many photographers. Gordon Laing presents a pretty powerful argument to that end:

The Canon EOS R6 gets a major firmware update for video users; EOS R6 Firmware Update, Version 1.4.0
Since it's mostly video related (IMO), I posted the firmware link in the R6 video thread:

first use, no quality from images, focus issues and ibis wobble, the new firmware sort of fixed some problems but still the camera was poor quality. It couldn't handle damp mornings and cold weather, causing the evf to mist causing the whole camera to fail, I put up with it till last year when the camera failed fully, sent it back to canon where they said the sealing was broken and not fitted correctly, refused to give me a new one so fixed the old one. when it came back the evf wasn't fixed as the coating has fallen off but they had replaced all its interior and fixed the focus issues. The camera is still useless, it fails most days and can't be used in the cold, damp, mist fog, snow with or without covers, the slightest damp (no rain) and it failures.
As for image quality, black and white is stunning, but the colours are not. washed out and extremely poor quality and if it wasn't for the custom picture style editor the camera would have been thrown in the bin by now because i don't edit..
Have spoken to others with the same misting issues where there cameras evf mist and won't clear for hours. canons cameras are more towards hobbyist and collectors than hardcore foke like me who gives the camera hard time. I'm 100% sure that the r5, r3 and r1 when it comes out will all be as bad. Canon has gone from a robust dslr cameras to a load of old rubbish, full of gimmicks that don't work and that's being kind. I'm in contact with canon often as they really hate me telling them their cameras are crap. Tried to get my money back with trading standards last year but failed.
Also canon seems to have stopped their promised 5 year of firmware updates which people have noticed.
I keep pushing canon to let me test their kit out as if it passes my tests its a strong camera as all their testers don't use the cameras in raw real life situations where I will.
